Limerick Stud is based in Bedfordshire.  We pride ourselves on breeding good quality Haflingers from top breeding lines.  Standing at stud is Allahies,  Austrian bred from one of the Tirol legendary stallions Afghan II  and out of award winning mare Annette.  Allahies has taken the championship  at the annual National Haflinger Breed Show several years running.

 

We now have his son Limerick Armoy also standing at stud, out of Champion mare Sara he has a great temperament and carries the same good qualities as his father.

Haflingers are world renowned for their great temperament and versatility, they range from 14.2hh up to 15.3hh, they are an established breed in many countries around the world  used for all disciplines including  driving, jumping, dressage and  endurance.

 

The modern Haflinger is no longer the short heavy pony it used to be,  they are now  horses of quality being tall and elegant but retaining good bone and  the easy going kind nature they are famous for. 

 

The Queen has always kept and bred Haflingers, we have in past years provided her with Haflingers for use at Balmoral for hacking and other disciplines.  Prince Philip once owned a team of Haflingers used in competition driving.

 

Their popularity comes from  their ability to adapt to most situations in a calm and manageable way.

Many people keep them as a family horse that everyone can enjoy, most owners never sell them on, once in home it is usually for life.
